Accommodation
Renner Springs Desert Inn is located 160 kilometres north of Tennant Creek, approximately eight hours' drive from either Darwin or Alice Springs. The inn was named in honour of Dr Frederick Renner, medical officer to the men working on the Overland Telegraph Line, who discovered the springs when he noticed flocks of birds converging in the area. The area is rich in history and the lagoon and spring still support a large range of natural bird life today.
Wake up to a continental or cooked breakfast before heading of on a day's journey or exploring the nearby attractions. Choose from a range of mouth-watering mains for dinner at the inn's restaurant and bar.
Spend some time bird watching to see a variety of native species including honey-eaters, heron, woodswallow and falcons. Wander to the lagoon and natural springs and enjoy the silence of the outback. Watch the gentle turning of the towering windmill swinging in the gentle breezes and enjoy the sunrise and magnificent sunsets. Climb to the top of Lubra's Lookout for spectacular 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside.
